Reebok DMX Series 2K Zip Shoes by Gigi Hadid
Reebok has been upping its game in recent years to go head to head with the other sportswear giants like Nike and Adidas. What many don’t know though is that Reebok is actually a subsidiary of Adidas, which bought the company in 2005. Before the union of two of the largest sportswear companies, Reebok was a family-owned business established in England.
Brothers Joe and Jeff Foster founded Reebok in 1958. You could say that athletic footwear was in their genes. Their grandfather was the mastermind behind J.W. Foster and Sons, the company famous among athletes for its pioneering “running pumps” and worn by Olympic champion Harold Abrahams during 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris.
These days, Reebok is very much famous all over the world, they’ve expanded well beyond footwear and is no longer solely worn by athletes. Reebok has been busy releasing new exclusive collections with famous figures including designer Victoria Beckham, fashion brand Pyer Moss and model Gigi Hadid.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock over the last few years, you’ve probably at least heard of Gigi Hadid. Even before she blew onto the fashion scene a few years ago, she was already very much part of the scene. The American model is actually of Dutch and Palestinian descent and grew up in LA. Her father is well-known real estate developer Mohamed Hadid and her mother is former model Yolanda Hadid, famous as one of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and also once married to legendary David Foster.
Gigi has become one of the most sought after models, walking on countless runways, gracing innumerable magazine covers and with over 50 million followers on social media. Her first modeling gig actually came at the age of two, when she began modeling for Baby Guess. Since officially signing on as a model in 2013, she’s been named model of the year by the British Fashion Council, has appeared on over 35 covers for various international editions of Vogue magazine, not to mention all the other magazines she’s done covers for, and has landed campaigns, collaborations and lucrative deals with Maybelline, Tommy Hilfiger, Stuart Weitzman and of course, Reebok.
Her latest collaboration with the sportswear brand is inspired by the outdoors. In Gigi’s words, “The light, the colors, the energy, the complexity. My season two collection pulls from that inspiration and is meant to provide support and work with you in all temperatures and environments.” The exclusive collection includes jackets, leggings, track pants, bags, and of course, shoes.
