OUR STORIES

Fanny Bags

In case you haven’t noticed, fanny bags are back. One of the trends that many swore would never make a comeback and many also swore they’d never be caught dead wearing, has officially become a must have item over the last few seasons. No longer associated with tacky tourist fashion, this generation of fanny bags, also known as fanny packs or bumbags, are a whole lot chicer than their predecessors.

Forget the fanny packs of old with their nylon fabrics, neon colors and front zippers. Today’s hottest fanny bags are designed by no less than the likes of Chanel, Gucci and Prada, just to name a few. Think leather, quilted and monogrammed. They are definitely a far cry from the fanny bags of decades past.

Here are our top picks for the hottest fanny bags

Chanel

You know something is the new chic when Chanel is designing it. When it comes to a Chanel fanny bag, there are a number of styles to choose from. While Sarah Jessica Parker opted for a sleek plain black fanny bag embossed with the classic Chanel logo, and worn with an evening gown no less, the various leather fanny bags featuring Chanel’s iconic quilting are a crowd favorite. Something a little less common and more casual is Rita Ora’s nylon version.

Prada Nylon Belt Bag

While it may be nylon, it’s Prada and certainly far from tacky. Prada’s famous nylon designs from the 90’s are back with a few different fanny bag versions, featuring flaps and double zippers and of course, Prada’s quintessential triangular logo. Multiple styles have been seen wrapped around the waists, across the chests, and casually being held (another new way of wearing the fanny bag) by It Girls Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid.

 Alexander Wang Attica Fanny Pack

Perhaps an unexpected It (fanny) Bag is Alexander Wang’s Attica design. The black leather bag features multiple silver zippers and an eye-catching metal chain. It’s another Hollywood must-have, seen on everyone from Kim Kardashian, Kaia Gerber and Rosie Huntington Whiteley, to name a few. It’s a style that’s also preferred worn across the chest, and with a chic jacket or blazer.

Gucci Marmont Matelassé Belt Bag

Last but not least is the ubiquitous Gucci Marmont Matelassé Belt Bag with its chevron style quilting. It’s seems to be the go-to style of celebrities, influencers and street style stars alike. While it’s available in various sizes, colors and embellished designs, the black and red colors are clear favorites.

Louis Vuitton Bumbag

If you’re going to have a monogram hanging across your waist or on your bum, it might as well be Louis Vuitton’s iconic logo. The brown leather fanny bag, which features a belt-like adjustable buckle, is another style that’s part of Kendall Jenner’s fanny bag collection. It’s also been seen on Ashley Tisdale, Elsa Hosk and Lisa Rinna.
